Scentsy's Six Pack Give Back

To celebrate Scentsy’s 6th Anniversary, Scentsy sponsored six volunteer events in Idaho’s Treasure Valley during the Summer of 2010. All Scentsy employees, Consultants, friends, families, & suppliers were invited to participate. The six parts of the Six-Pack Give Back included Race for the Cure, Paint the Town, Vein Ambition, Fashion Forward, Change Challenge, & Contribute 2010.

Race for the Cure – In May, Scentsy employees, Consultants, and their families and friends made up the largest team ever assembled for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Boise—2,200 people raced to support breast cancer awareness. Orville and Heidi donated more than $171,000 to the Komen Foundation—more than half of the $300,000 fundraising goal for the area. Team Scentsy also banded together and donated an additional $6,500 to the cause.

Paint the Town – On June 12, more than 120 Scentsy employees, Consultants, friends and family participated in Boise’s Paint the Town. Ten Scentsy teams visited the homes of seniors and disabled Boise residents and spruced up their homes with fresh coats of paint. Overall, Scentsy employees, Consultants and friends and family dedicated nearly 1,000 hours of their free time to bring fresh color and enjoyment to the lives of Boise residents.

Vein Ambition – In July, the Red Cross questioned Scentsy’s goal of donating 140 usable units of blood, saying it couldn’t be done with a company our size. Despite their skepticism, 180 Scentsy employees and consultants signed up to donate blood, and of those, 140 pints of usable blood was donated. All blood donated during Vein Ambition goes to help individuals and families in need in Idaho’s Treasure Valley area.

Fashion Forward – Two Boise organizations, Dress for Success and the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, received large donations of new and gently used clothing from Scentsy’s Fashion Forward event in July. As an extension of the Boise clothing drive, Scentsy Consultants who attended Convention 2010 were asked to bring a few items to donate to Inter-Faith Community Services in Denver. In all Scentsy employees and Consultants donated several hundred pounds of clothing.

Change Challenge – For eight weeks, Scentsy employees and Consultants raised money for Wednesday’s Child, a Boise charity that features a child or siblings in need of an adoptive family every Wednesday on KTVB News Channel 7.
Scentsy employees were encouraged to donate $3 of their spare change every Wednesday to reach the Scentsy’s goal of $10,000. During our Intensity Convention 2010, Consultants were also encouraged to donate to Wednesday’s Child. Scentsy’s total donation reached $16,000.

Contribute 2010 – Scentsy wrapped up Six-Pack Give Back with Contribute 2010. Scentsy began six years ago as a bootstrapping, family-owned business that depended heavily on the support of the Treasure Valley community. In honor of our humble beginnings, Heidi and Orville contributed $50,000 toward helping 20 family-owned Treasure Valley businesses. Each Scentsy employee received $50 to spend in one of the stores chosen by our Six-Pack Give Back team. In addition to Heidi and Orville’s $50,000 contribution, employees and vendors spent $4,500 of their own money.
