The Scentsy Story

The Scentsy story began in 2003 when Kara Egan & Colette Gunnell thought of  a safe alternative to regular candles.  They thought of the idea to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of using a flame. Entrepreneur Orville Thompson met Kara & Colette at a home show in Salt Lake City & felt there was something to this wickless candle idea. He took the testers home to his wife, Heidi, where Heidi, in turn showed the scents to her mother & sister. Orville was amazed when he returned to find the women laughing & sharing memories.

Heidi & Orville bought the company from Kara & Colette & started running business with the help of family & friends from a 40 foot ocean container on their Idaho sheep farm.  Scentsy has come a long way since then, becoming one of the most successful direct selling companies in the industry.
